A few words from Jack's school updates:
10/26
Jack and Niall LOVED being in the new classroom and decided to make that their primary residence this morning. Both boys headed straight for the little couch where they decided to jump, giggle and wrestle together. These boys have become quite the wrestlers, knowing how to play together but not too rough.
10/17
Niall LOVED the puppets of both the robin and the owl and would not put them down. Pointing to the OWL, Niall asked his teachers “what is this.” When they responded with “owl” and the “HOOT” sound it made, Niall mimicked and made the noised back. Jack also started HOOTING, pointing to the owl as if he was making the connection to. Throughout the day when their teachers mentioned the word OWL, both boys made the correct sounds as they played around the room.
9/26
Jack was very excited to go outside and did a great job listening to his teachers as they gave him directions to go sit by the door. Grabbing his shoes Jack STUCK them onto his feet, showing his teacher’s how he has been working on getting them on. With a little help from his teacher (and his friend Niall), Jack successfully got his shoes on and was SO proud of himself. Great job Jack!
9/5
As we rolled a LARGE piece of white paper onto the ground, the kiddo’s eyes got wide and they beamed with excitement. Jack was very excited to color today and did a great job! He sat his little body in a great spot, right in the middle of the paper, and started moving his black crayon side to side. Thrilled about the beautiful art he was making, Jack smiled for the camera as Ms. Jaimie took his picture and even pointed to his work.

15.5 months
Jack,
This past weekend you signed "please" to daddy and me when you wanted more bites of my oatmeal! We are so proud of you!!! You have recently started at Children's Hour Academy where you are making all kinds of new friends, have two teachers, eat snacks and lunch, take a nap, play, sing, dance and learn! We are sure you picked up this new sign in your first week there. Your first month of "curriculum" is all about bugs and you've begun to bring home some of your first art work. :)
Right now you definitely favor dogs! You sign the ASL word for "dog" every time you see or hear one. You usually spot them from afar and are signing "dog" before I see it! You even signed "dog" last night after you bath when you say the pug on my t-shirt. So observant!
You loved trying macaroon cookies the other week, and they were a favorite for a bit. We make you banana and blueberry pancakes ahead and freeze them so we can get them on your tray first thing in the morning because you do not appreciate much lag time between wake up and breakfast. Pretty much NO lag time.
By far your favorite pastime is exploring outside. By the time you were really mobile this spring the weather was fairly steady in the warm/dry department and you spent A LOT of time in the backyard and new parks this summer. You seem to enjoy the idea of not being contained and having so much to see/hear/touch/run to!
You have also begun to utter some "words" that we can decipher when you are also holding or are near the objects you're speaking about. I think your vocabulary so far includes: car, dog, duck, "eeee" for binky, ball, dada, mama, and hi.
We love you. A lot. To the moon and back!

a zoo in my shoe!
Jack, today I put on my hot pink sneaker that I hadn't worn since last week. Imagine my surprise when I when to slip my foot inside and found four of your plastic animals inside! Thank you! I remember now that I took off my shoes on the patio, and you must have been so sneaky to place the turtle, German Shepherd, mongoose, and other dog inside! So cute you are.

Maui!
We were a little nervous about flying all the way to the islands with our VERY active 14 month-old, but all fears were squashed when Jack fell into his own routine in paradise! What a great sleeper and eater, swimmer, explorer! He had his first kiss with Miss Sydney Jane Brewer on the beach at sunset! How romantic! He did a great job of sharing with her and giving her hugs and kisses (not sure where any of that came from...).
Jack also did a lot of signing! He's been picking up and using all kinds of signs since school got out (thanks to Rachel from "Baby Signing Time"). He knows dog, eat, more, all done, cat, milk, hot and does a lot of waving and clapping too.
We were so very lucky to have Grammy Diane and GoGo and Grandpa Don and Grandma Teresa come with us to help out on a couple of sleepovers and nap times with Jack so Ryan and I could enjoy some adult time with Ben and Amy. Like last time, we kept to the resort with a few excursions into Kanaapali and Lahaina...just the way we like it...laid back! Mahalo Maui!
