easy as...

3 months!

At the weigh-in on Tuesday Jack accounted for 14 lbs, 14 oz.  Totally enthralled with his fists in his mouth, has started to notice the dogs, and really wants to throw that left shoulder over in order to roll from tummy to back.  Has the leg strength, now it's a perseverance game.  His most notable quality at this point is how happy he is.  And he's the most happy and squeal-y and smiley in the morning, right when he wakes up and gets to come in bed with us and get some face time after so many hours of looking at the back of his eyelids (boring).

this happy little guy...

beach weekend

Off to the coast we went for a rare and beautiful Oregon Coast weekend.  Friday was sunny and windy, and Saturday was...hot!  We stayed at Cannon Beach and visited old and new favorites; Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters for the best lattes we EVER had, Irish Table for dinner, and new LUSH wine bar.  Saturday we explored Rogue Ales Public House on Pier 39 in Astoria.  Can't remember the last time either of us had been to Astoria.  Interesting craft brews and some unspectacular food, but the ambiance and the company couldn't be beat!  Plenty of strolling the sand with Howie and Winston and watched the younger generation with their sand castle creations.  Fun to look forward to!  Terrific weekend getaway with our little family.

12 weeks

At "Baby and Me" class last Tuesday, Mister Jack weighed an even 14 lbs, and he turned 12 weeks on Friday August 12th.  All along, I kept having 12 weeks in the back of my mind as some magic age where something huge would be happening with his development.  And...he just completed his first solid week with a six hour stretch of sleep every night!  Mama like!  And he's really started to enjoy his Bumbo chair which allows him to sit up and enjoy all the action.

feels like summer

Ryan and I buckled down last week and made Granny Mary's famous dilly beans from beans I picked up at the farmer's market.  What a task! We ended up with 9 jars and felt proud of every one after all the work.  Makes me appreciate all preserving Granny did for so many years; just about dried or canned every fruit or vegetable around.  Looking forward to some bloody mary's with these ones!

And a fun day at the park with cousins Jacquelyn and Madelyn!

Lynell and Paul visit!

Best friend Lynell and her son Pauly came to visit us this weekend so we showed them our favorite place to push a stroller and a beer!  Edgefield!

grattitude

So very thankful today for my best friend and husband, Ryan.  He's also an amazing father, and our new adventure into parenthood has definitely been full of drastic changes, but here he is, just being amazing as usual.  Love this man!

I'm also thankful for Howie, who demonstrates what it means to relax and enjoy the moment!  I had a quiet moment on the patio this morning, soaking up some sun and a bit of coffee, and there's Howie already doing what he does best in the summer time...napping in the sun.
